Interweaving two, and threefold passages into unified visions of beauty and depth, these paintings explore storied trees, woodland views, and ancient forests.  Through interrelationships of imagery, and shifting perspectives of the textures, forms and colors of sylvan landscapes, this collection reveals the poetic heart and living dimensions of our woodlands.

This collection brings together a representative grouping of my woodland-themed landscapes and sylvan-portrait paintings.  Many of these works were created on combined substrates, and explore dimensions of perception by interweaving views, perspectives or sensory impressions of my subjects into a harmonious, yet dynamic, translation of a place, or an experience within nature.  

These hybrid-compositions explore varied unions of painted imagery with dimensional-forms, while also layering surface textures and imagery into a dynamic harmony.  The dance between form and space delights me.  I enjoy the interplay between what is revealed and what is concealed in relationship with the vantage-point of the viewer to these sculptural-paintings. 

Reaching backwards into long-ago and forward into the present, the stories of trees unfold alongside of our stories. Through the ages, trees and forest ecosystems have inspired the human imagination, and have been powerful symbols of transformation, creative energies and archetypal powers in our myths, poetry and folklore.   This emerging series of paintings creatively highlights the significance of trees in relationship with our stories and lives.

"Codex Sylva: Two Volumes in Open-Form" is a sculptural Artist's Book that gathers hand-scribed poems, visual artworks, and remnants of earlier creative cycles into an interconnected ecology of beauty.  Through the unfolding forms and shifting relationships of light, shadow, and space, it expands the traditional codex into an experiential terrain of discovery, inviting viewers into a dimension of unfolding belonging.
